Art tête-à-tête

Overview

In October 2016, I conducted “Art tête-à-tête”, an event designed to revisit the creative process by bringing together artists and a diverse set of academicians, on the FLAME University campus in Pune.

Motivation

Art is a journey encompassing three components: Content, Form and Process, all of which find roots in inspiration

The FLAME University campus is a melting pot of ideas, a treasure trove for inspiration. It is where diverse disciplines converge and interact at all levels. Each discipline can serve as a source of content for art, where it could then manifest itself in several forms. I designed the “Art tête-à-tête” experiment to leverage this vivid intersection of disciplines and ideas.

It was a curious experience for academicians to witness their content shaping into form. While on the other hand, artists were challenged to conceptualize and materialize the academic content.

Execution

Five Professors from FLAME University created and shared their “Content”. Content derived from within their respective disciplines. Five senior artists from Pune city, worked with these faculty members to give artistic form to these concepts.

It was a curious experience for academicians to witness their content delivered as an art form. Likewise, artists were challenged to conceptualize and materialize the academic ideas resulting from this unique collaboration that lasted over three months.

They were joined in this pursuit by  two teams comprised of FLAME students and junior artists from other Art Colleges in Pune. The junior artists skillfully executed Content designed by the students at FLAME.
